Q Returns To Bond Franchise

Published on by SamuelConnor

After 2 films without the master of gadgets, Q is set to make a fresh appearance in the new Bond film Skyfall.

This time however he willl not be played by John Cleese who briefly took the place of the late brilliant, Desmond Llewelyn.

Ben Whishaw will be taking on the role which will be the youngest Q to date. His most famous film role so far is the lead in perfume, other than that Ben is best known for his stage career in productions such as Hamlet.

I am not convinced by this news, as I enjoyed this new edgy Bond that does not rely soley on gadgets or a trip down to the basement testing area for a few cheap laughs and over the top demonstrations. It was fine in the old Bond films but it seems a little out of place within the new franchise.

Persumably the film is going to play on Q's new youthful appearance making him more gadget savvy while also being a bit more in touch with the real world trends.

But I think they could have left him out of it, a new Bond means a new structure and this feels like too much of a return to the old ways.
