Michael Kenneth Williams Joins 'RoboCop' Remake

Published on by SamuelConnor

The cast of Robocop just keeps getting stronger with another awesome addition to the team in the form of Michael Kenneth Williams. Better known for his roles in HBO's The Wire as Omar or Boardwalk Empire as Chalky white.

With hints of him starring in the leading role in Django Unchained only to be later added as a supporting character Williams seems to be making moves within the Hollywood circles and for good reason.

According to reports, Williams is currently in talks to play the police officer who partnered Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) before he was shot down and transformed into RoboCop. In the remake, he is set to remain close to the Murphy family.

Should Williams sign on he will join a hugely talented cast including Gary Oldman as RoboCop's creator, Samuel L. Jackson as a powerful media mogul, Hugh Laurie as a shadowy corporate villain, Jackie Earle Haley as RoboCop's trainer, Jay Baruchel as Omnicorp's head of marketing and Abbie Cornish as Murphy's wife.

This movie is really shaping up from being an unnecessary remake to a must see movie of 2013. Lets  just hope all that talent does not go to waste on a weak storyline.

RoboCop will begin filming in Toronto next month ahead of a UK release on 9 August 2013.
